Margaret M. Gross

July 26, 1956 — January 26, 2019

Margaret Mary Gross, 62, died Saturday morning, January 26, 2019, at Swedish American Hospital with her loving family at her bedside.

Born July 27, 1956, in Elmhurst, Illinois to Arthur H. and Emma M. Gross, moved from Lombard to Rockford in 1964, she graduated from West High School in 1974. Upon graduation, Margie worked at Barbara Olson Center of Hope for many years in the ceramic workshop, as well as out in the community. Her favorite job by far was working at the Auburn Street Pizza Hut, of which she was very proud. She also worked at Milestone Industries, where she excelled at shredding. Margie was always very concerned about her family, often looking out the window, waiting for her father to come home safely, especially in bad weather. Margie enjoyed traveling with family, her cats, calendars and clocks, dancing, making Christmas tree ornaments, helping her Dear Mother, and word searches. Margie was loved and will be deeply missed by many. Our family wishes to thank the caring staffs at both Barbara Olson Center of Hope and Milestone, especially the angels who work at Dierks’ Group Home. In addition, much appreciation goes to the doctors and nurses at Swedish American Hospital for their care and compassion; as well as Father Nicholas Federspiel for his mercy.

Survivors include her mother, Emma Gross; sister, Cecelia (Mark) Dahlgren; cousins, John (JoAnn) Doyle and Cathy (Phil) Douglas; godfather, Steve Zaletanski; special family members, Leslie Dahlgren and Mary Lou Voorhies. She is predeceased by her father, Arthur; paternal and maternal grandparents; aunts and uncles. Interment will be with her Dear Father at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Puowaina Punchbowl Crater in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Arrangements entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Share online condolences and memories at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
