Margaret "Midge" E. Cameron

Margaret “Midge” E. Cameron, 98, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

Margaret was born May 20, 1923 in Galesburg, IL, daughter of Aaron and Esther (Mason) Babbitt. She graduated from Galesburg Senior High School, Class of 1941. Margaret married Ray D. Cameron Sr. on March 14, 1943. She was employed as the bookkeeper with Wallace College Book Company of Lexington, KY for 15 years before retiring. Margaret was strong in her faith and a lifelong member of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She was an avid golfer and member of Lake Bracken Country Club in Galesburg. Margaret loved her family dearly and cherished her time spent with her husband traveling the country in their fifth wheel. She was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, attending many basketball and football games. Margaret was a lover of sports and enjoyed watching them on television. She was also a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Margaret will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Christine (Kenneth) May, Jodie (Thomas) Linnan, Ray D. (Susan) Cameron Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kay Cameron; grandchildren, Rebecca (Kurt) Paquette, Cindy Larson, Lori Tillman, Dana (Marc) Moore, Amanda (Jess) Sams, Peter E. C. (Jami) Dieu, Jennifer Cameron, Daniel (Ashley) Cameron, Angie (Steven) Glass and Ray D. (Jessica) Cameron III; 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sandy (David) Murphy. Margaret is predeceased by her parents; husband, Rev. Ray D. Cameron Sr. and son, Mark Cameron.

The family would like to thank the staff of Morning Star Village, Anam Care and Heartland Hospice for their kindness and care for Margaret.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be planned for a future date. Final resting place will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s name to your favorite charity of choice.
