Maria Tritt

Maria Tritt, 93, of Rockford, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 24, 2016. She was born on April 6, 1923 in Germany, the daughter of Karl and Babette (Wagner) Stengl. On September 6, 1947, she married her beloved, Max Tritt, in Grafenwöhr, Germany. Maria was a devoted member of St. Edwards Catholic Church for many decades. Maria was an excellent knitter, never missing an opportunity to knit something for her family. She was a compassionate and giving woman, who will be missed by all those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Max; her children, John (Kate) Tritt, Dennis (Darla) Tritt, and Bonita (Mike) Stahl; her grandchildren, Christopher Tritt, Andrew Tritt, Brian (Jenna) Tritt, Sigrid (Janusz) Wis, and Kurt Stahl; her great grandchildren, Lukas and Robert Wis; her sister, Betty Hauber of Munich, Germany; Christa Armann who she was Patin to, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Fr. Emmett Memorial appreciated.
