Marian Hodson

Marian Hodson, 103, formerly of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away May 26, 2019. For the past 9 years she has resided at Presence Cor Mariae in Rockford, Illinois.
Born June 9, 1915 in Monticello, Illinois to Benjamin and Luella (Warner) Cole; she was a graduate of Monticello High School. Marian married Kenneth Hodson in Peoria, Illinois and together they raised five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; sons, Morris Dalton and Donald Dalton; daughter, Colleen Phillips.
Surviving is her daughter, Carol (Jim) London of Roscoe, Illinois and her son, Allen (Kathy) Hodson of Danville, California. She has been graced with eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Marian was a member of Bartonville United Methodist Church. She belonged to several clubs over the years. She made quilts for each of her family members and their children. Reading was a big past time for her, as was watching the Cubs baseball games. She traveled to all 50 states. Gardening was her hobby and she canned the best pickles in the Mid-West.
She has left us with many things but most of all, we hope she has left us with just a thimble of her strength.
Funeral service 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Presence Cor Mariae Center, 3330 Maria Linden Drive, Rockford. Marian will be buried next to her husband in Monticello, Illinois at the Monticello Township Cemetery. Memorials may be give to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements were entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel.
