Marie A. Perrecone 1931 - 2022

Marie A. Perrecone, age 91 of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born March 21, 1931 in Rockford, the daughter of Louis and Lucy (Bruscato) Saporito. She married Sam Perrecone at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Rockford on June 26, 1954. Marie graduated from St. Anthony Grade School and Muldoon High School. She lived her entire life in Rockford. Marie, along with her husband Sam, owned Sunny Boy Bakery and Perrecone Pino’s Pizza on Forest Hills Road, where customers were known by name and quickly became Marie and Sam’s friends. While operating Sunny Boy Bakery, leftover bakery items would be donated and delivered to the sisters at the Poor Clares Monastery. Marie was a member of Holy Family Church and St. Anthony Altar and Rosary Society. She prayed the rosary many times a day. Marie was devoted to her family and for years hosted many large family holiday gatherings at her house, making Italian food she learned to make from her mother. Her son Paul was her caregiver during the last six years of her life. The family wants to thank Dr. Ted Ingrassia of OSF HealthCare for the care provided to her, especially during her final hospitalization. 

Survived by her sons, Frank (Jody) of Loves Park and Luke and Paul of Rockford, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Sam; parents, Louis and Lucy Saporito; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Mary), Angelo (Josephine) and John (Margaret); parents-in-law Charles and Anna Perrecone; and by the Perrecone brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter (Marian), Carl (Irene), Michael (Mary), Joseph (Shirley), Frank, Dominic and Charles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107, with Fr. David Beauvais officiating. A visitation will take place prior to Mass, starting at 9:30 a.m. Private burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family or Corpus Christi Monastery of the Poor Clares at 2111 S. Main St., Rockford, IL 61102.
