Marie I. Stenberg

Marie I. Stenberg, 91, South Beloit, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born February 26, 1923, in Rockford, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Larson) Bergman. Marie married Harold L. Stenberg on March 12, 1942. He passed away September 23, 2000. She was a sales clerk at Chas. V. Weise and later at George Brothers, and retired from Kohl’s. Marie attended Beth Eden United Methodist Church. Special thanks to “Grandma’s” Fair Oaks family for their kind and compassionate care through the years.
Survived by her son, Ross (Ann) Stenberg of Roscoe; 4 grandchildren, Heath (Leigh) Stenberg, Amy (Jose) Garcia, Kristan (Eric) Augustin, and Laurel (Christopher) Engel; 6 great-grandchildren, Ella Stenberg, Ethan, Katelin, and Benjamin Augustin, and Dylan and Parker Engel. Predeceased by her husband, Harold, her parents, her daughter, Carla Long, her sister, Janet Arneson, and 2 brothers Marvin and Donald Bergman, while they were serving in WWII.
A memorial gathering will be from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av, Rockford.
