Marilee L. Brown

Marilee L. Brown, 84, of Machesney Park, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 17, 2011. Born December 17, 1926 in Marquette, MI to Harold and Mary Lawrence. Graduated from high school in Newberry, MI. She came to Rockford in 1946 to attend The St. Anthony School of Nursing. Married William R. Brown on Feb. 14, 1949 in Rhinelander, WI. She worked at St. Anthony Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1983 to care for a granddaughter. Marilee loved to travel, dance, and care for extended family. She enjoyed spending weekends at Lake Puckaway in Montello, WI for many years. Survivors include her husband William, children, Sue Bedin, Robert ( Karen) Brown, Kathy Brown, Mary Beth (Chuck) Clayton and Larry Brown; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A very special thank you to Marilee's exceptional caregiver and special friend of 11 years, Loris Righteous, whose loving care and devotion allowed us to keep Mom at home. Funeral Mass, Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St. Visitation on Thursday, Jan 20 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave with a rosary to be recited at 8:00. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
