Marjorie A. Bomgarden

Marjorie Bomgarden of Rockford passed away Saturday January 5, 2013 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Marjorie was a resident of Wesley Willows. She was born March 23, 1928 in Elgin, IL. The daughter of Ralph and Helen Helm. She graduated from Dundee High School and got her teaching degree from the National College of Education. She married John E. Owens on April 21, 1951 in Dundee, IL, then resided in Rockford. She then married Harold L. Bomgarden on June 12, 1976. Marjorie spent 26 1/2 yrs as a Rockford Public School Teacher, teaching at Westview and Conklin Elementary. She retired in June of 1986. She was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church, the YMCA Senior Womens Club and the North Suburban Womens Club.Survivors include her husband Harold of Rockford. Four children, Rick Owens, Alan Owens and Neal (Shelly) Owens all of Rockford. Dawn Owens Adamany of Oregon, WI. Two step children, Lisa Bomgarden Defendi of Rockford and Thomas Bomgarden of California. Four Grandsons and one Granddaughter. Two Great grandchildren. Brother Ralph (Vera) Helm Jr of Galena and Sister Pearl (Paul) SteffenAshe of Sun City Center, FL. Predeceased by her parents and two children.Services at 11am Saturday January 12, 2013 in St Paul Lutheran Church 4881 Kilburn Ave. Rockford, Il 61101, with Pastor David J. Thies officiating. Private Family Burial. Visitation from 9am until service time Saturday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the Wesley Willows Good Samaritan Fund.
