Marjorie Helene Owens

Marjorie Helene Owens, 84, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2015; her family was by her side when she passed away. Marjorie was born on April 9th, 1931, in Rockford, IL the daughter of David and Helene Mauk. Marjorie graduated from Muldoon Catholic High School in 1951. After high school, Marjorie was employed at Sundstrand Corporation until she met and married Charles B. Owens on January 24th, 1953 and they were married 62 years. Both Marjorie and Charles were members of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Marjorie loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed hobbies and crafts including sewing, ceramics and crocheting.

Survived by her husband, Charles; her children, Mary Ellen (Robert) Peters, Charles Owens (Hope), Lu Ann Panozzo-Jones (Edward), Daniel Lee Owens; her granddaughters, Michele and Susan Panozzo, Sara Owens and Jennifer Rice (Caleb); Her loving sisters Joan Mauk (Gilbert) and Anna Mauk (Cooling), and brother Robert Mauk. She is preceded in death by her daughter Susan M. Owens; her parents; her brothers David and Louis Mauk.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61107, with burial immediately following at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel; and one hour prior to service on Thursday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Northwestern Illinois Special Olympics.
