Marjorie P. "Polly" Stover

Marjorie Pauline (Moore) Stover, “Polly” died peacefully January 24, 2022 at age 94 in Rockford, IL. She was born July 27, 1927 to Joseph and Elva Moore in Butte, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband and love-of-her-life, Robert C. Stover, whom she married in 1949.
While being an amazing mother, Polly earned her BA in Business Education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and her MA from Northern Illinois University. She taught at Harlem High School, including serving as Department Head. She was a devoted member of Spring Creek United Church of Christ for over 50 years. She was an avid golfer and enthusiastic traveler. Her many volunteer endeavors included serving as a guide at the Rockford Art Museum, the Rescue Mission and Spring Creek Elementary School.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Ross and Dorothy (McChristy) DeMarco, brother, Donald Moore and nephew, Paul Ross. Polly is survived by her children, Robert Stover, Sarah Delmont (Phillip), Cynthia Carlisle (David), Jeff Stover (Carol), Anthony Stover (Katy); her grandchildren, Danielle (Jeremy) Warner, Ashleigh Felauer (Matthew), Ethan (Maria) Delmont, Erica Carlisle (Andrew Feider), Elizabeth and Benjamin Henning, Olivia, Munroe, Siale, Corson Stover; great-grandchildren, Josephine, Evelyn, and Dominic Warner, Will and Jake Carlisle Feider, Sylvia, Violet, and Evelyn Felauer; niece, Susan Baldwin and nephews, Joe, Andy, Tom and Tim Ross, Chuck McChristy.
Arrangements are being handled by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral (Memorial) Service officiated by Rev. David Sheridan at Spring Creek United Church of Christ, 4500 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford, IL 61114 will be held on February 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Spring Creek United Church of Christ.
