Marsha Kyle Wurtlin

Marsha Kyle Wurtlin passed away on February 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on October 21, 1947, daughter of Eugene (Gene) and Virginia (Ginny) Kyle. Marsha was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford.

Spending all of her life in the Rockford area, her youth was spent around her neighborhood home on Catherine Street with weekends and summers spent working for Rockford Hardware Manufacturing Company, her dad’s factory. Marsha graduated from the University of Iowa with a four year degree in nursing. She loved the medical field and became the first head nurse of the Rehab Center for Rockford Memorial Hospital as well as the Director of Social Services and Chaplin Outreach. She was also instrumental in starting up Home Care as well as the Visiting Nurse Program. In recent years, Marsha had many happy memories with friends and family enjoying time in her condo on the shores of Rock Lake in Lake Mills Wisconsin.

Marsha is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald (Don) Wurtlin. She is survived by her longtime companion Allen Floyd and several close cousins; Barry (Tom Boycks) Luce, Gloria Mustbrook, Norm (Sara) Luce, Bonnie (Lou) Hegedus, Ray (Brenda) Kyle and several very special friends.

A funeral service will be held to honor Marsha at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 925 Fifth Ave. with Rev. Dr. Michael Thomas officiating. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the church.
