Mary A. Prescott

Mary A. Prescott, 82, of Rockford, passed away February 10, 2019 peacefully in her home. Born December 9, 1936 in Rockford, the daughter of R.K. “Kim” and Julia (Farrington) Garey. She attended Cathedral of St. Peter School and graduated from Muldoon High School, Class of 1954. She married Hugh C. Prescott in Rockford at Cathedral of Saint Peter on June 18, 1955. Mary worked as a secretary for the Rockford Board of Education, Smith Oil Co. and retired from the Dean’s office with the UIC-College of Medicine. Mary was active in the Rockford community. She volunteered for Well Baby Clinic, Head Start, and St. Rita Catholic Church. She enjoyed nature and loved her animals.
Survivors include son, Michael W. (Rani Ross) Prescott; daughter Lori K. Prescott; brother-in-law William (Madeline) Prescott and family; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, husband, brothers John and James Garey; sister Katherine (Tim) Foley.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr, Rockford, IL 61109. Private interment will be held at a later date.
