Mary Ann Verona

Mary Ann Verona, 85, passed away on August 9th in her home surrounded by family. She was born in Streator, IL on April 22, 1936 to Peter and Stella Butitta. She married Russ Verona on February 7, 1959 and they celebrated 47 years together. They had six children and successfully maintained two local businesses. Mary Ann’s joy in life came from raising her family. She was a devout Catholic, loved reading, and enjoyed playing computer games and catching up on social media.

Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her children, Linda (James), Verona-McClinton MaryBeth (Phil) Caltagerone, Nick Verona, Carolyn (Ardell) Lee, Tricia Verona, Pete Verona, Sarah Verona; and grandchildren, Jeremy and Christian, Jacob (Kelsey) and Gracie, Danielle (Nate), Callie (Hayden), and Garrett, Leo and Elouise and great grand-son, Tyler.

Mary Ann is survived by her sisters-in-law, Julie, Mary, and Nancy and brother-in-law, Tony and many special nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann is pre-deceased by her husband, Russ; parents Peter and Stella, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Christina and Nick as well as siblings and their spouses, Rosalie (Tom), Joe (Jeanne), Sam (Phyllis), Jim, and Matt (Diana), and brother-in-law, Matt.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary Ann’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
