Mary C. Fasula Spataro

Mary C. Fasula Spataro, 83, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.  A lifelong resident of Rockford, she was born the daughter of Anthony and Caroline (Palmero) Fasula on December 3, 1924.  Employed at Atwood Vacuum for 171/2 years as an arc welder.  Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.  She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts and working in her yard.  Her biggest joy was being with her family.  Survivors include her wonderful family; son, David (Kay) Spataro; daughters, Sharon Barcellona and Kathleen Van Vleck all of Rockford; grandchildren Tricia Carlson, Roscoe, Dom (Becky) Barcellona, Rockford, Tina Van Vleck, Loves Park, Michael Van Vleck, Phoenix, AZ, and David and Andrew Spataro, Rockford.  Also survived by great-grandchildren, Adrianna Megan Barcellona, Nicholas Anthony Barcellona, Taylor and Ryan Carlson and Lauryn Van Vleck; her special sister-in-law, Sue Fasula and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Predeceased by her loving parents; 2 brothers (her best friends) Frank and Joe (Jo-Jo) Fasula, sisters, Rose Spinello and Caroline Spataro and her great-grandson, Anthony Michael Van Vleck.    Funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Church or St. Judes Childrens Hospital.  Arrangements were completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
