Mary Catherine Kilty, 87, Byron, formerly of Rockford, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron surrounded by her family. She was born August 30, 1925, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Mary (Waytko) Martin. She married Harold Joseph Kilty in Huntington, Indiana on April 26, 1945. He passed away September 17, 2005. Mary was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She played in card clubs for many years and enjoyed her Collies, especially, Tessy.Mary is survived by her children, Keith (Christy) Kilty of Dublin, Ohio, Cheri (Kerry) Steiner of Rockford, David (Mary) Kilty of Machesney Park, and Cindy (Barry) Oleson of Byron; grandchildren, Ken (Peggy) Kilty, Sheila (Curt) Barnhart, Shawn and Caitlyn Steiner, Elizabeth (Chris) Patterson, Barry Oleson II, Jerry Oleson, Brandy (Jason) Downey, and Laura Oleson; greatgrandchildren, Caden and Colin Barnhart, Julia and Eleni Kilty, Dylan Oleson, Hayden Downey, twins, Asher and Brody Downey and Matthew Downey; sister, Millie LaRock; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Harold; grandson, Christopher Steiner; and several brothers.Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 19, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 220 E. Second St., Byron, with Reverend Howard Barch officiating. Visitation form 10:00am until time of service on Saturday at the church. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Byron.
