Mary C. (Betts) McCaslin Mary C. McCaslin, 66, of Montrose, Georgia, formerly of Rockford, IL went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2008 at Nelson-Debes Subacute Complex in the comfort of spirit. Mary was born September 23, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Kathryn (Smith) Betts. Mary married Dennis McCaslin in Rockford on December 13, 1968. Mary graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School in 1960. She had worked in the assembly department at Barber Colman for several years where she made many lifelong friends and after moving to Georgia had joined the "Ladies of Montrose" , an informal social group. Mary enjoyed sailing, going for walks, sewing childrens clothes, shopping trips to Wal-Mart, the Soap channel, Garfield, Beef-A-Roo, close friends, family gatherings and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her parents, Clarence and Kathryn Betts; her husband, Dennis McCaslin; her children, Brian McCaslin of Atlanta, GA., Melissa (James) Saelens of Durand, IL and Michelle Williams of Dakota, IL; her grandchildren, Ryan, Seth, Daniel and Travis; her brothers, Donald (Dahna) Betts, Barry Betts (Nancy Lindquist) and Pat Betts (Pamela Kelley her sister, Carole (Mike) Lester; her very special niece, Marcie Turner and her cats, Katie and Buddy. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Howie McCaslin and her close friend Jo Pohl. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 10 AM 11 AM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. followed by a memorial service at 11 AM with Deacon Randy Fast officiating. Burial will be private.
