Mary Elizabeth Restuccia

Mary Elizabeth Restuccia, 60, Rockford, died at Rockford Memorial Hospital on Sunday, July 22, 2012, after a courageous struggle against cancer. She is the beloved spouse of Robert D. Restuccia, MD and the mother of Susan C. Cathers, both of Rockford. Mary Elizabeth was born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 1, 1951, the daughter of Earl and Mary Virginia Cathers. She lived in many states and in Germany while her father was a career Army Warrant Officer. She lived in El Paso, Texas for 25 years, where she met her husband, Robert. They were married in April, 1997. Upon retirement from the Army Medical Corps in El Paso in 1998, Dr. Restuccia and Mary Elizabeth moved to Rockford where she was a homemaker. Dr. Restuccia is employed at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Mary has countless friends in the Rockford region, but also all over this country and abroad. She was admired and celebrated for her wit and humor. Her family will miss her generous spirit and great compassion, especially for those less fortunate. After cremation, there will be a memorial service at the gazebo in Sinnissippi Park at 10:00 A.M, Thursday, July 26, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W. State St. Rockford, 61102. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family.
