Mary Ellen Lofgren

September 4, 1951 — February 5, 2023

Mary Ellen Lofgren, 71, of Rockford, passed away on February 5, 2023 at Loyola University Hospital. She was born on September 4, 1951 in Rockford, the daughter of Henning and Rosemary (Thomas) Lofgren. She worked at Schnuck’s in the deli department for many years. Mary was a member of Westminster Church and a supporter of the Salvation Army Church. She was a good friend of many and was always willing to help. Mary asked for so little but deserved so much. She loved animals, especially cats. She never met a cat she didn’t love, and many thought of her as the cat whisperer. She is now guarding the gates of the Rainbow Bridge!

Mary is survived by her sister, Kathy Lofgren; brother, Taylor Lofgren; nephews, Derek Gunther, Mark Lofgren, and Scott Lofgren; and fur babies, Baby, Gracie, and Davy. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Richard.
