Mary J. Evans

Mary J. ""Josie"" Evans, 55, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday August 2, 2007 at home. Born May 12, 1952, in Canton, IL., the daughter of John L. and Nona Mae Wright Evans. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1970. Mary enjoyed bowling and also softball which she both played and coached for many years. Mary also helped care for her father for the past 10 years. Survivors include her father John Evans, Sr., brothers and sisters Gary (Geraldine) Evans, Terry (Connie) Evans, Margaret (Robert) Black, Ricky Evans, John L. Evans, Jr., and James ""Gunnar"" (Tina) Evans, and best friend Lori Reynolds, nieces and nephews Nicole, David and Danny Evans, Mark (Ashley) Evans, Tanya (Stephen) Bidwell, Janice (Joey) Hicks, Teresa (Scott) Raper, Robert Black, Jr., Amy and Jeff Evans, John Evans III, Sissy Evans, Megan Evans, and Tarah Evans, numerous great nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Mary Evans, and special friend Kathy Schumell. Predeceased by her mother, Nona,and brother Brad. Funeral service will be held on Monday August 6, 2007, at 4:00 PM, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3610 N. Rockton Ave., with Reverend Dr. William R. Kerr, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
