Marylin Erickson, 90 of Rockford, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born August 31, 1922 in Galesburg,< the daughter of Stewart and Francis (Stearns) Ross. Marylin graduated in the Rockford High School class of 1940 and then studied art at the Carmel Art Institute, Carmel, California.nbsp; Married 61 years to the love of her life, Raymond Erickson, on June 14, 1941.nbsp; A long time member of Second Congregational United Church of Christ, Marylin was a member of the Leona B. Gordon Circle, a Sunday School teacher amp; superintendent, sang in the choir amp; served on various church boards.nbsp; Marylin was a member of Kings Daughters, former member of Rock River Valley Needle Work Guild, volunteered designing amp; decorating sets at Midway Village amp; Museum Center and was very involved in the Greenwich Village Art Fair as an exhibitor for many years. She was a wonderful and talented artist and enjoyed sharing her art with everyone. Marylin adored her children, grandchildren, amp; greatgrandchildren amp; took many videos of her grandchildren playacting in silly plays she orchestrated.nbsp; Her family was her life.nbsp; Marylin was able to be part of the 100 th year reunion celebration of the family lake home in Wisconsin in 2009, a place she dearly loved amp; where she spent all her summers. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kirks Place at Wesley Willows. Survivors include her children, Zan (Dave) Picchioni of Loves Park, Peter (Pat) Erickson of Rockford and Nancy (John) Dutmer of Chetek, WI; daughterinlaw, Shelley Erickson of Rockford;nbsp; grandchildren, Peter (Carol) Picchioni,nbsp; Andrew Picchioni, Elizabeth and Regen Erickson, Brendan (Sarah) Barry, Dash Erickson, Calvin (Jennifer) Erickson amp; Rachel (Shawn) Maxwell, Austin (Taylor) Dutmer, and Tzeitel and Lochlan Dutmer and great grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, Sebastian, amp; Gunnar Picchioni, Jackson Orland amp; Ava Maxwell, amp; Orson Dutmer, nieces and nephews amp; cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; sons, Ethan and Stewart; sister Nancy (Ross) Miller, and brother, Carl Ross.

Memorial service Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Second Congregational United Church of Christ, 318 N. Church St. with Rev. Dr. J. Michael Solberg and Rev. Fred Krauss officiating. Visitation will be at church from 10 a.m. until time of service.nbsp; In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to the Second Congregational United Church of Christ Youth Program. nbsp;Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel.
