Merritt Bud Baxter 82 of Rockford passed away at 11:55pm on Tuesday February 23, 2010 in his home surrounded by his family.nbsp; Bud was born December 11, 1927 in Rockford.nbsp; The son of Merritt Sr. and Edna Baxter.nbsp; He married Geraldine OBryan in Rockford on July 15, 1953.nbsp; He worked for H and W Motor Express for 35 years.nbsp; Served in the Army.nbsp; He was part of the occupational forces in Germany after WWII.nbsp; He was a member of Silver Hill Pentecostal Church and served as Head usher for many years.nbsp; He was a proud member of the Teamsters, local 325.nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Geraldine, Four Children; Janet (Dennis) Grottke, Terry (Juanita), Steve (Tamie) and Diann (Mark).nbsp; Grandchildren; Denise, Jennifer, Billy, Nathan, Connie, Erin, Rachel, Steve, Sheldon and Brittney.nbsp; Ten Great grandchildren.nbsp; Two Brothers; James (Maggie) Baxter of FL, George (Doris) Baxter of IN.nbsp; Sisters; June McCall of IL and Helen (Rodger) Porter of FL.nbsp; Son-in-law Robert Hawks, Daughter-in-law Patricia Baxter and many special relatives.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents, Children; Barbara in 1990 and Kirk in 1966.nbsp; Two sisters; Florence and Elsie. Brother; Bill.

Services at 10am Saturday February 27, 2010 in Silver Hill Pentecostal Church 4401 20th Street , Rockford with Pastor Robert Bailey officiating.nbsp; Burial in Willwood Burial Park.nbsp; Visitation on Friday February 26, 2010 from 5pm until 8pm in Silver Hill Pentecostal Church and from 9am until 9:45 on Saturday in the church.nbsp; Arrangements completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory 1860 S.
