Michael J. Zinna

LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER nbsp; Michael J. Zinna, 81 of Rockford passed away on October 29, 2007. Born December 27, 1925 in Rockford, IL to Joseph and Francesca (Ruvolo) Zinna. Michael married Yolanda Santini on September 13, 1947. Michael proudly served with the United States Army during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart Citation for wounds received in the Philippines. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. nbsp; Michael was the building engineer for Ellis School with the Rockford School District for 20 years. He was employed by the school district for 32 years until his retirement in 1985. Michael was also a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. nbsp; Michael loved spending his free time with his grandchildren. Special thanks to the loving staff at Highview in the Woodlands and VNA Hospice for their care. nbsp; He is survived by his wife Yolanda, daughter Jenny L. (Charles) Marino. Son-in-law Randy Gillman. Three grandchildren Jake and Nick Marino and Brian Gillman and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and daughter Frances Gillman. Three brothers Mario, Cosmo and Sam. Two sisters Ann Ricotta and Mary Cicero. nbsp;Funeral Mass will be at 10 am Saturday, November 3, 2007 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Visitation will be Saturday at 9 am until time of Mass in the church. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the family.
