Michael M. Meeker

Michael Meeker, 74, of Rockford passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 22, 1941 in Rockford, the son of Gordon and Sylvia (Reynolds) Meeker. He attended West High School, class of 1959, and then joined the United States Airforce where he served as a Meteorologist. He married Karen Wignall in Rockford in November of 1989. Mike worked for Illinois Bell/ATT for nearly 45 years. He loved to go boating, RVing, and never missed a trip to Florida or Mississippi with his wife. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and had a wink and a smile for all of those he met.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Karen; his step-son, Brian Taylor; his grandchildren, Liam and John Taylor. Predeceased by his parents and son.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated.
