Milo Weiland

March 8, 1924 — July 22, 2015

Milo A. Weiland, passed away peacefully in the arms of his children on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, while in hospice care at Cor Mariae Center in Rockford, Illinois. Milo was born in Wautoma, Wisconsin on March 8, 1924, to Max and Emma (Bohn) Weiland. He was the second youngest of seven sisters and one brother. He attended Wautoma High School, and served proudly as an airman in the Navy Air Corps during World War II. While on Liberty, Milo met his wife of 53 years, Janet, through his sister, Dorothy. They corresponded during the war, and married shortly after the war ended, settling in Janet’s hometown of Rockford. Milo enjoyed family, laughter, and took great pride in his home and in the many properties he owned and managed. He was a devoted father who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his former wife, Janet (Weiland) of Highland Park, IL; his children, Kristen Hunt of Rockford, IL, Richard Weiland of Westborough, MA, Kathie (Bob) Seufert of Portage, MI, Kim Weiland of Highland Park, IL; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Hoffman. He was preceded in his death by his parents, many siblings, and son-in-law, John Hunt. We will all miss his unique humor and storytelling that never ceased to make us laugh and his unconditional love and support.
A funeral service will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Park.
