Morris Freedlund

October 23, 1930 — March 16, 2012

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Morris Morrie V. Freedlund, died at home surrounded by his family on Friday, March 16, 2012 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born October 23, 1930 in Township of Sherwood, Clark County, Wisconsin; the son of Allen G. and Rugna (Jacobson) Freedlund. He served in the 10th Infantry Division Company L 85th Infantry of the Army during the Korean War from 19511953 and received the Purple Heart. Morris married Marilynn Grimes in Belvidere, IL on January 13, 1962.

Although he worked as a skilled machinist at several machine shops in Rockford, IL until retirement, his family and home were his main focus in life. Morris was an active church (St. Chads Episcopal Church) and community member and served on the Loves Park Zoning Board of Appeals for 20 years.

Survived by his wife, Marilynn; children, Karen (David) Fisher of Sheboygan, WI, Janna (Paul) Hood of Lebanon, TN and Peggy (Rick) DeRango of Rockford; grandchildren, Patrick, Emily, Margot, Benjamin, Jakob and Zakary; siblings, Ellen Eberhardt of Waukesha, WI, Donald (Mary Lea) of Rockford, Rodney (Carolyn) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; sisterinlaw, Nettie Freedlund of Pittsville, WI. Morris was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold.

Memorial Service will be at 10:30am Saturday March 24 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.nbsp; Private family burial to follow.nbsp; Memorials to Emmanuel Episcopal Church or Shelter Care Ministries.
