Nicholas "Nick" F. Halsted Kind and Giving Soul Nicholas "Nick" F. Halsted, 28 of Rockford, died on Friday, June 15, 2007 in his home. Born February 9, 1979 in Rockford, the son of Fred and Debi Halsted Jr. Nick was a 1997 graduate of East High School. He worked for the US Post Office, Newtown, as a mail carrier. In his younger years he and his brother played baseball at Roy Gayle he was also active in sports at East high school with his friends. He was an avid sports fan and video gamer. He loved his family, friends, neighbors and co-workers, his personality & kind attitude was loved by all. Nick was always kind and giving to a fault, he will be greatly missed by many including those on his mail route. Survivors include his parents; brother, Steve (fianca© Julia Steiner niece, Adelein; maternal grandfather, Richard Keckler; paternal grandmother, Ann Halsted; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; God parents, Mike and Kris; good friends, Alberta and Mike and his faithful companion, Kitty. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Fred Halsted Sr. and maternal grandmother Jessie Keckler. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. 2nd St., Machesney Park, with Rev. Dr. William R. Kerr, Sr. officiating. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at Church from 10 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the family. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
