Nicholas Myers

Nicholas Myers, 91 of Rockford, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at Wesley Willows surrounded by his family. Born December 12, 1916 in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada to William and Christine Myers. Married Helen Korney on November 25, 1939 in Dauphin. Served in the Canadian Army during WWI and was later employed by the Canadian National Railroad. Moved to Rockford February of 1954 and received his United States citizenship in March, 1959. Employed by the Rockford Newspapers, Inc. from 1954 to 1979. and JC Penney from 1959 to 1970. Farmed on Farwell Bridge Rd. in Pecatonica from 1972-1979. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen; daughters, Darlene (Don) Hanna, Beverly Graham, Kimberly (Jim) Viggiano and son, Michael (Dana) Myers, all of Rockford. Poppos grandchildren; David (Gigi) Hanna of Rockford, Douglas (Susan) Hanna of Trevor, WI, Nicholas Myers, Jessica Myers and Nathanial Myers of Rockford, Nicholas Viggiano of Florida and Capt. Michael (Sara) Viggiano of Texas; great grandchildren, Zoe Weir, Elizabeth Hanna, Alaura Myers and Christopher Hanna; sister, Dorothy Dillehay of Anchorage, Alaska and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Canada. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Peter and John, sister, Mary and grandson Thomas Graham. Funeral mass Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. with Rev. Kenneth Stachyra officiating. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery.
