Rockford- Nicolette W. Kowalski, 67, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born Aug. 28, 1942 in Oak Park, daughter of Otto and Mary (Kalvalage) Wenzel. Married her loving husband, Donald Kowalski on Jan. 8, 1966. Nicolette was currently teaching Science at Gifford Street High School, Elgin where she has been for 7 years. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church and on the board of directors for St. Scholastica Academy, Chicago. She was an active representative for Teacher Union- U46 and her hobbies included watching movies and going to the theatre to enjoy the Ballet or Musical production.  Overall her primary hobby was motherhood. She enjoyed checking in on the achievements of her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Don of Rockford; son, Andrew (Patti) Kowalski of Elmhurst; daughters, Diane (David) Lockhart of St. Charles, Laura (Nicholas) Zasada and Rachel (Nicholas) Romenesko both of Chicago; grandchildren, Evan, Elizabeth, Mitchell, Daniel, Heidi and Thomas. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father and Step-Mother, Helen Wenzel.  Funeral mass Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd., with Monsignor Thomas E. Bales officiating. Visitation Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. Visitation continues on Sat. in church from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Union Cemetery, 1200 N. 5 th Ave. St. Charles, IL.
