Nikolas Ritschel

Nikolas Allen Ritschel, 21, of Rockford and formerly of Belvidere, died March 9th, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona fighting a heroic battle with Synovial Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer. He was born February 4th, 1991 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Kelli Ritschel Boehle and Patrick Ritschel.

Nik was pursuing his Business Administration Degree at Robert Morris University in Chicago, Illinois. Niks deep faith in God, positive attitude and never ending hope for the future carried him through an incredible journey. Nik was a huge Chicago Bears fan. He loved playing basketball, the Chicago Bulls, riding his dirt bike and living life to the fullest. Family and friends were his greatest treasures.

Nikolas is survived by his proud and loving parents, Kelli (Thomas Hilbert) Ritschel Boehle and Judith Ann a?Grammya?a??a? Boehle , father, Patrick Ritschel, his two loving brothers, Christopher and Daniel; aunts, Kristi (Chris) Erickson of Chicago; Tami (Tim) Satterfield on Monkton,MD; beloved cousins, Jack and Chelsea Erickson and Carson and Dylan Satterfield; his girlfriend and best friend, Allegra Sunday; good buddies, Joshua Michalsen, John Cook, Kevin Meister and Joel Mathur, all of Rockford. He is also survived by his extended family: paternal grandmother Virginia Ritschel; paternalnbsp; grandfather, William A. Ritschel; uncles, David, Thomas, and Jason Ritschel and aunt Tina Haynes. He is met in heaven by his maternal grandfather, Edward Eugene Boehle; great grandfather, Arthur (Artie) Leo Stewart; and best friend, David Swanson.

Funeral Mass Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. at 1p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. from 47 p.m. and will continue on Saturday at church from Noon until time of prayer at 12:45 p.m. Inurnment will be private at a later date.
