Oscar Gonzalez "Apango"

Oscar Gonzalez “Apango”, age 72, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

Oscar was born in Cd. Guzman, Jalisco, Mexico on September 1, 1950, son of Enrique Gonzalez and Maria Guadalupe Almaraz. After moving to the United States, Oscar became a proud member of the Local 13 Carpenter’s Union of Chicago for 35 dedicated years. He married his loving wife, Lourdes Delgado on July 1, 1978, at St. Augustine Church in Chicago, IL.

Oscar was a longtime member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Rockford. In his younger years, Oscar enjoyed playing soccer and always watching it on television as much as he could. One of his great passions was raising and taking care of the many roosters he had throughout his life. He loved cooking many different foods for his family, singing, dancing and always joking around and making people happy. His family will never forget the way he would call them to sing Happy Birthday on their special day. Oscar will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor Oscar’s memory include his wife, Lourdes Gonzalez; children, Yadira Gonzalez, Anna Cecilia (Alejandro) Perez, Iliana (Jose) Delgado, Alejandra (Victor) Carrillo and Oscar Ivan Gonzalez (Kahla Tribble); grandchildren, Alejandro, Daniella, Alondra, Selina, Arianna, Oscar, Aaron, Dalilah, Daxton and Alina; brother, Arnoldo Gonzalez (Lucrecia Ochoa); sister, Guadalupe Flores and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Eulalia, Luis, Jesus, Ignacia, Guillermina, Refugio, Jorge and David.

Visitation and Rosary will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th St. Rockford, IL 61109.

Memorials may be made to the Gonzalez family to be established at a later date.
