Patrick P. Fleming

Patrick P. Fleming, 81, of Rockford passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born January 23, 1934, in Rockford, the son of Harold and Rosemary (Rice) Fleming. Patrick graduated in 1951 from Rockford East High School. He went on to join the United States Air Force, immediately after graduating, where he became a Staff Sargent. Patrick married Helen Marie Prezioso in 1958; she predeceased him in 2003. On August 13, 2005, Patrick married Josephine Laudicina Sparacino. Patrick was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church as well as a lifetime member of the LLL Club. He played all sports in high school and played semi-professional football for the Rockford Golden Eagles. He coached Little League and Junior Tackle football and enjoyed camping and fishing. Patrick like to joke around, especially with his family but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survived by his wife, Josephine; son, Mike (Britt) Fleming; daughter, Pam (Ron) Hastings; grandchildren, Amanda (fiancé, Keith) Hastings, John (fiancé, Katie) Fleming, Krystin (John) Ewing, Katie Fleming, Jordan Hastings and Kyle Becker; great-grandchildren, Keith Jr., Arianna and Charlie Mae. Also predeceased by his brothers, Robert Fleming and Andrew Fleming.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, with the Rosary recited at 6:45 p.m. Visitation will continue at church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Inurnment in Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
