Paul Robert Huenkemeier, of Rockford, died in his home at 2:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013, after lengthy illnesses. Born July 17, 1930; the son of Paul amp; Frances (Tunison) Huenkemeier. Paul lived most of his life in Rockford. As a child, he was baptized and confirmed at Centennial Methodist Church. After graduating from East High School in 1950, Paul served in the Air Force during the Korean War where he was honored as Airman of the Month while training at Keeler Air Base. His time in the Air Force birthed his love for electronics for the rest of his life, paving his 45year career as a TV and Audio technician at Hedrick Electric, Sears/Roebuck, and his own company Central TV.nbsp;nbsp;

Paul married Marjorie Jeanette Crom of Dixon on January 15, 1955. They became members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in the churchs infancy. Paul was integral, serving faithfully as their audio technician, headusher, and trustee for decades. His love for the outdoors included fishing, camping, and boating, which turned to RV traveling to 49 states in his and his wifes retirement years, all with rich memories. During these travels Paul began a genealogical search that culminated in finding ancestral family and returning to homelands in Germany, leaving a rich legacy. Member of Rockford Moose Club, and American Legion.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Marge; daughters, Sue (Rick) Peterson of Patch Grove, Wisconsin; Janice Bourkland (Morris Brunell), Cheryl (Richard) Thurman of Rockton; Jo (Chris) Fox of Rockford; grandchildren, Michelle (Matthew) Garnhart, Derek Peterson, Jeremy Fox (special friend, Katie Prather), Jesse (Alix) Fox, JohnPaul Fox, Victoria Fox, Amanda (Shawn) Henderson, Aaron Bourkland (special friend, Alexis Kruger), Vanessa (Brian) Monson, Adam (Mary) Thurman; greatgrandchildren, Braydon, Bryce, Eiley, Tyler, Lucy, Nolan, Baby Monson; fraternal twin brother, Arthur Huenkemeier of Rockford; sisterinlaw, Virginia Countryman; niece, Kalah (Brian) Byman and nephew, Russell (Deby) Countryman families of Texas; stepbrothersinlaw, Jack (Gayle) Broderick, and Keith Broderick of Iowa; cousin, Rob (Susan) Mitchell of North Carolina. Predeceased by his parents.

The family is deeply grateful to the staff at VNA Hospice, especially Julie, James, Brea, and Bev. You gave us bright endurance in these past few months. A special salute to Dr. John Dorsey, Dr. D. Rabor, Dr. B. Roy for your great fortitude, patience, and expertise over the years, as well as Rockford Memorial Hospital and ER.nbsp; I had my beer! And from your children, Mom, for your lovingly, valiant, longsuffering in your care for Dad, God bless you richly!

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL 61103 with Pastor Doug Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the church. Private family burial in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VNA Hospice, 4223 East State Street, Rockford, IL 61108, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, or to the family.
