Pauline M. Malani, 91Loving Mother and Nana Pauline M. Malani, 91, Rockford, died peacefully at 3:45 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 in Loyalton of Rockford. Born November 19, 1919 in Cassano Magnago, Italy, daughter of Emilio and Maria Ballabio Varalli. Married Peter J. Malani in Rockford on September 21, 1940. Member of St. James Catholic Church and their Altar and Rosary Society. Also a member of the Lombardi and Verdi Club Auxiliaries. She was a perfectionist in everything she did. She loved her home, her flowers and she loved cooking everything from scratch. She also loved her friends and her neighbors, past and present. Her grandson Michael was the light of her life and she was so happy to see him marry Julie. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Mel) Hendricks; grandson, Michael (Julie) Hendricks; nieces, nephews and cousins as well as cousins in Italy. Predeceased by her husband on November 12, 2001, parents and brother. Special thanks to Fr. David E. Beauvais, her special friend and former pastor of her church. His visits made her feel so good and his kindness and friendship is truly appreciated by all of us. Thanks to Russ and all of the staff at Loyalton for their wonderful care and to Evelyn Mullen for her special friendship. We are also grateful to Andrea Setter for all the time she spent with her. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and their staff, especially Steve (Bear), Steve B., Becca, Megan, Mystie, Hannah, Tammy, Dr. & Mrs. Weiss, Elaine, Pam and all others for their loving care. And a special thank you to Dr. Eric Trautman and Dr. Mark Carlson for their years of care. Mass of Celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 in St. James Catholic Church with Rev. David E. Beauvais officiating. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at the church. Private family burial in Calvary Cemetery.
