Penny M. Jones

June 24, 1947 — August 20, 2022

Penny Jones, 75, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Penny was born June 24, 1947, in Rockford, Illinois to Ralph and Katherine (Two) Cramer. Penny attended East High School, graduating in 1965. She married Allen Jones on August 17, 1983, in Oregon, IL. Penny retired from Rockford Products after 36 years of employment. She was a member of the SM&SF Women’s Auxiliary Club.
Penny was an avid watcher of old western TV shows and movies. She also had a passion for crocheting and loved making afghans for family and friends. She would also donate the afghans she made to charity. Other hobbies she enjoyed included cooking, reading books and magazines, and completing word search puzzles. As a lifelong Illinoisan, Penny loved cheering on the Chicago sports teams, especially the Cubs and Bears. Al and Penny loved being outdoors and enjoyed spending their summers and winters teaching their nieces and nephews to camp, fish, and cook at their properties in Wisconsin. They also loved traveling to Las Vegas multiple times a year with their friends Denny and JoAnne Shearer. Penny was an extremely giving person and loved to regularly donate to her favorite charities. She always felt very blessed in her life and wanted to share that blessing with those less fortunate. Penny loved her family and friends immensely and was loved by everyone that knew her. Because Penny was unable to have children of her own, she was known to most as Aunt Pen. It didn’t matter whether you were related to her or not, she loved everyone, and they all had a place in her heart. Her passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all that loved her. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by her family and friends. Her nieces and nephews loved her so much and will always cherish the time spent together and the memories shared with her. Her family takes great pride in knowing that she meant so much to so many people.
She will always be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Penny is survived by her brother Perry (Judy) Cramer; cousin Carol Cichella-Jessup; niece Christina (John) Stewart; nephews Rick (Rebecca) Calverley, Andy (Christine Culp) Calverley, Jonathon (Alyssa) Cramer; great-nieces Nicole Cramer, Madison Stewart, and Lauren Calverley; great-nephew Declan Cramer; life-long friend Karen (Danny) Steiner, god-daughter Tania Kothera, Tracey Pearson and their families; special friend JoAnne Shearer; sisters-in-law Janet Doty and Linda Jean (Gary) Swisher; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Penny is preceded in death by her husband Allen; parents Ralph (Blanche) & Katherine; sister Pat Calverley; great-aunt Mary (Walter) Johnson and Margaret (Ralph) Ebens; in-laws Amos & Phyrne Jones; brother-in-law Jerry Doty; nephew Darryl Doty; niece Lynda (Jon) Routt; special friend Denny Shearer.
