Primo A. Tanaglia

July 28, 1922 — May 31, 2018

Primo Tanaglia, 95, Rockford, passed away May 31, 2018. He was born July 28, 1922. A wonderful man we were blessed to call Dad passed to his eternal reward. He truly lived a life of service and provided us with examples of kindness and integrity throughout his life. He will be forever missed. He now joins our mother in eternal happiness and joy. No doubt they are dancing already. Dad was a ready volunteer for both Presence St. Anne and the Salvation Army. He never met a stranger and was a great listener. Dad cherished his opportunity to serve his country during World War II. Dad came from Italy with our Grandma Theresa to join our Grandpa Olinto in Valdez, Alaska. They later settled in Rockford to be among family and friends. Dad met our mother, Rose Giorgi when he was 14 and it was love at first sight. They married on September 1, 1946, after his service as a Marine in WWII.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Marcia (Roger) Williams and Louisa (Raymond) Hayenga;his 5 grandchildren, Trisha (James)McKnight, Tracy (Steven) Overstreet, Andrew (Debra) Hayenga, Allison (Patrick) Roe, and Tess (Colin) Sander; his 6 great grandchildren, Sydney and Gabrael McKnight, Zachary and Erin Overstreet, Simon Hayenga, and Sloane Sander; his brother, Joseph Tanaglia and his 3 sons, David (Barbara), Mark (Sandy), Kevin (Cindy) and their families; and his step sister-in-law, Frances Sola. Predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Rose, on August 4, 2017.
We would like to thank all of our wonderful cousins, especially Mary Louise Gaziano, J.F. Gaziano, Mary Lou Angileri, Joseph Sola, and Larry Pro who were constant companions to our Dad and Mom in the past few years.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Bell Ave. Rockford with Reverend David Beauvais officiating.
