Rachel M. Barr, 72 of Durand, died on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at St. Anne Center, Rockford, IL. Born, July 9, 1934 in Glen Haven Township, WI, the daughter of Charles and Katherine M. (Rauch) Hampton. She was a 1952 graduate of Prairie du Chien High School. She married her loving husband, the late Dr. Philip R. Barr on August 28, 1954 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, also in Prairie du Chien. A devoted mother and grandmother, she deeply lover her Catholic faith and worked tirelessly to help people love God and his son Jesus Christ. She moved to Rockford from Bloomington, WI in 1985 where she began to work in the Marriage Tribunal for the Rockford Diocese. Rachel was also a secretary in the Religious Education department at Holy Family Catholic Church from 1992-1999 and at St. Rita Catholic Church from 1999 until her retirement in 2000. She is currently a faithful member of The Cathedral of St. Peter. Survivors include her children, Rev. Monsignor Eric R. Barr of Rockford, Dr. David P. (Laureen) Barr of Wausau, WI, Jan M. (Carol) Barr of Pewaukee, WI, Dr. Mary Beth Aschenbrener of Kenosha, WI, Charles P. (Renee) Barr of Rockford and Sara M. Marquetti of Rockford; Eleven grandchildren, Kristen, Kelson, Matthew Barr, Alex and Grace Barr, Ryan, Jillian, Cole and Amy Aschenbrener, Kenzie Barr and Isabella Marquetti; siblings, Jane (Dayle) Meyer of Bloomington, WI,nbsp; Neil (Jean) Hampton of Bloomington, WI, Larrynbsp; Hampton of Florida, Patrick (Patricia) Hampton of Browntown, WI;nbsp; brother-in-law, James Krogman of Cassville, WI and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Nov. 11, 1968; brothers, Robert, Bernard and Paul; sisters, Donna Grass, Ann Johll, Ruth Patterson and Mary Krogman. nbsp;Funeral Mass Friday, June 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at The Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., with Rev. Monsignor Eric R. Barr officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary Cemetery, Bloomington, WI. Visitation Thursday, June 14, 2007 at The Cathedral of St. Peter from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary service to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, in church, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
