Ralph J. Sandusky

June 3, 1920 — October 31, 2014

Ralph J. Sandusky, 94, of Rockford, died Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Bickford House. He was born on June 3, 1920 in Racine, WI the son of Fred and Johanna Sandusky. After graduating from St. Catherine High School in Racine, Ralph entered in the United States Army and served as an E.T.O. in World War II. He then took courses at the University of Missouri to learn Linotype and later married his loving wife Jacqueline Dament on Thanksgiving Day in 1947, together they had 3 beautiful children. Ralph worked for several newspaper companies which included, Burlington, WI newspaper; Willow Spring News, Mo; Marengo Republican News, IL; JW Kennedy Associates and Top Hat Typographic, Rockford and when the computer age took over, he gracefully retired. He was a fun, gracious and very loving man, who will be missed dearly by his family and friends he made at the Bickford House and St. Bernadette’ s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Ann (Gary) Campbell of Charleston, NC; son, Robert J. (Lora) Sandusky of Chicago; grandchildren, Laurie(Mark) Jordan, Lisa(Tom) Valiulis) Jennifer Anderson, Gary Jr.(Jocelyn) , Charles and Kiera Sandusky; great grandchildren, Caroline, Graham, Thomas, Zoe, Grace, Sophia, Isabelle, Jordan, Sam, Emilia, Savannah and Ava. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; son, Ralph Jr. in 2004; brothers, Clarence and Donald and sister, Sr. Thea Sandusky.
Memorial Mass Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Inurnment will be held privately at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Mausoleum that afternoon. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
