Ramona I. Thoren

Ramona "Monie" I. Thoren, 77, of Rockford, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 in her home after a sudden illness. Born April 10, 1934 in Paw Paw, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carnahan. Monie graduated from Rochelle High School class of 1952, Northern Illinois University class of 1956, with a Bachelor's Degree, and in 1987 received her Master's degree from National Lewis. Married her loving husband Wayne Thoren on June 15, 1957 in Rochelle. Monie was a teacher for over 25 years and retired from the Rockford Public School District in 1993. She attended Heartland Community Church and enjoyed traveling, gardening and always made time to attend her grandchildren's activities. Monie was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly by all. Survivors include her husband, Wayne of Rockford; sons, Steven (Tonya) of Mt. Prospect, Christopher (Debby) of Charleston, James "Jim" (Lisa) of Winnebago; daughter, Laura Jaworowski of Rockford; grandchildren, Ben, Tom, Sarah Thoren; Lindsey, Zach, Ashley Thoren; Brian (Megan), Liz , and Jackie Jaworowski; brother, Dr. Lloyd (Ann) Carnahan of Fullerton, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William "Bill" Carnahan. Memorial Service Friday, May 27, 2011 at 6 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Pastor Matt Kitchen of Heartland Community Church officiating. Visitation Friday in the funeral home from 3 p.m. until time of services. Inurnment will be held Saturday, May 28 in Melugin Grove Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. in Compton, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to: Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center or Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary.
