Raven R. Sanders

Raven R. Sanders, 24, of Cherry Valley passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 in her home. Born June 28, 1994, in Rockford, the daughter of William “Bill” Sanders and Heidi (Stanley) Sanders. Raven attended Jefferson High School and graduated in 2012.

Raven was a writer and a poet with amazing work that she would rarely share; a part of her she kept a secret from most. She had a love of photography and was always taking photos. Raven was very funny and loved to laugh, she loved life and sharing it with her family and friends. She was wise beyond her years; she was witty, and highly intelligent with an open spirit. She didn’t see color, race, gender or ethnicity when she looked at you, she only saw a human being that deserved respect and kindness. She was non-judgmental and saw the good in people without holding their past against them. She loved to go shopping for clothes and shoes…so many shoes! She was trustworthy and dependable, if she said she would be there for you, she meant it. She was an avid music lover and listened to many styles and genres. Music was her outlet and she listened to it all the time. She was a beautiful girl on the outside and just as beautiful if not more on the inside. Her dream was to finish college and move to Colorado. She really wanted to start a family of her own, as she loved children for their honesty and free spirit. Raven, you were taken away all too soon from us; you will forever be missed but never forgotten!

Survived by her parents, Bill Sanders and Heidi Sanders; siblings, Ryan Long and Riley Sanders; special family, Troy Michaelson, Matthew and Nikolas Bowers; special friends, Natasha Walters and Nick Woolery; uncles, Steven Stanley, Kurt Stanley, Lester Stanley, Todd Stanley (Dana); Mark Sanders, Patrick Sanders; aunts, Vicki Beckman, Traci Stanley, Pam Ianni (Richard), Polly Rudolph (Ron), Amy Syzmanski (Alex); and many cousins. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Gordon and Iris Stanley and John and Joan Sanders, uncle Glen Stanley, uncle Richard Sanders, aunt Peggy Sanders, and cousin Sarah Stanley.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel. Visitation will be Monday April 29, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
