Raymond C. Kellermann

Raymond C. Kellermann, 81, passed away on July 7, 2020. Born on July 13, 1938 in Detroit MI, he was son of W. Blythe and Jenett (Furniss) Kellermann. A graduate of Bay City Junior College, Ray moved to Rockford, Illinois and joined Centennial United Methodist Church in 1959 where he met the love of his life, Mary Jane Reeves. They married at the church on August 14, 1960. From 1961 through 1963 Ray was drafted into the army and served in Germany. He was a faithful employee of Mechanics Universal Joint Division of Borg-Warner later renamed Rockford Powertrain for 42 years until retiring in 1999. One of his favorite groups from the church that he was a part of was the “Golden Agers” which also called themselves the ‘recycled teenagers.’ The group took bus trips, went to theaters, went on mystery trips finding out where they were going once they got there, and traveling to different places in the states. Later in his life he found a love for bird watching, specifically watching baby birds hatch and grow. He was a man with a sense of humor and a kind heart.
He will be missed by those who loved him most, his wife of 59 years, Janie; his sons Todd (Rhonda) and Curt (Beth) Kellermann; his grandchildren Blake, Brooke, Cameron, Heather and Michael; his four great-grandchildren and sister, Darlene. He was predeceased by his parents.
A funeral service for Ray will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
