Raymond D Aumann

April 27, 1941 — February 17, 2016

Raymond D. Aumann, 74, of Machesney Park, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born on April 27, 1941 in Brooklyn, Wisconsin; son of Arthur and Mary (Weinand) Aumann. Married Jan (Kraemer) on October 3, 1964 in Rockford at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
The legendary Raymond Dean Aumann-- more commonly referred to as “The Godfather” or “Bubba” --spent his time on earth as an undercover superhero. Though a man of few words, he spoke clearly through his actions. Ray selflessly devoted much of his time helping others. His curious, open-minded demeanor led him to explore many occupations throughout his life. Ray’s tough, firm, no- nonsense exterior concealed a massive heart of gold. His hobbies included: coaching fastpitch softball, including teaching life lessons on and off the field, collecting antique cars, advocating for the Rockford community, spending time with family and friends whether it be at home, in the casino or “on the road”. Being a man of humble reserve, Ray never asked for anything in return. May Ray’s charismatic spirit live on in the city of Rockford and continue to inspire greatness in all of us.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jan; children, Vincent (Sarah) Aumann, Victor Aumann, Michelle (Troy Eisenrich) Aumann, Chad (David Winn) Aumann; grandchildren, Leah (Keith) Aumann-English, Sara, Arthur, Maxwell (Hollie), Virginia, Raymond, Vincent, Ondrea, Drake, Hailey, Hayden and Hudsun Aumann; great-grandchildren, Suzie, Damona, Amelia; brother, Arlen “Porky” (CeCe) Aumann.
Predeceased by his parents; siblings, Joyce Davis, Teresa Aumann, Vincent Aumann, Dave Aumann, Don Aumann, and baby Elvina Aumann.
