Rebecca "Becky" Shaffer

Rebecca “Becky” Shaffer, 64, Rockford, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018, in SwedishAmerican Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born October 18, 1953, in Rockford, the daughter of George and Helen (Retzlaff) Seiter. Becky married Timothy Shaffer in Rockford on September 12, 1987. She was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was active as a Stephen’s Minister and in many other activities throughout her life. Becky served on the advisory board for the SwedishAmerican Cancer Center involved in patient care, was involved as a granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and a long time participant in the Light the Night event for the Leukemia Lymphoma Foundation. Becky worked at Wee Care at SwedishAmerican Hospital with the children in day care. She loved being involved in the children’s lives.
Survived by her husband, Tim; her son, Paul Shaffer of Rockford; her brother, Tim (Nancy) Seiter of Rockford; her sister, Gretchen (Seiter) Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; her brothers-in-law, Jay Shaffer of Rockford and Pat (Cindy) Shaffer of Tucson, AZ; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Lorraine Shaffer of Tucson, AZ and her sister-in-law, Liane Igo of Denver, CO. Predeceased by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St. Rockford with Reverend Dr. Len Hoffmann officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. on Saturday at the church.
