Richard Alan Severson

Richard Alan Severson, 66, Rockford, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 7, 2016, in his home. He was born September 22, 1949, in Rockford, the son of Sigurd and Phyllis (Colvin) Severson. Rick married Deborah Kay Swenson in Rockford on May 17, 1975. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was a proud father who adored his family. Rick was employed in the fastener industry for over 39 years by Rockford Products and Wurth Service Supply. His career in the industry allowed him to travel abroad and meet many interesting life-long friends. He enjoyed his retirement playing golf, attending his granddaughters sporting events, Musky fishing with his brother, and skyping with his grandsons. Rick was a devoted Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and St. Peter Cathedral Gate Keepers fan. He will be remembered for his love, care, and transporting members of his family.
Survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Debbie; his daughters, Sarah (Todd) Greenberg of Rockford and CPT (P) Hannah (MAJ Joe) Caldwell of Virginia; his grandchildren, Ella, Eva, and Emma Greenberg, and Jack and Charlie Caldwell; his brother, Gary (Julie) Severson of Rockton; his sisters, Janice (Tom) Kline of Roscoe, Sandy Spitzmiller of Roscoe, and Sue (John) Anderson of Rockton; numerous nieces and nephews. We will miss you Bompa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 13, 2016, at the funeral home and from 9:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday.
