Richard C. "Dick" Jacobson, 83, of Rockford died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Wesley Willows Rehabilitation & Health Center. Born April 21, 1929 in Rockford, the son of Swen and Melda (Carlson) Jacobson. Graduated from Belvidere High School in 1947. Following graduation he became a realtor while helping his father, who was ill. On June 2, 1954 he married his loving wife of 57 years, Roberta Oliver. After returning home in 1956 from serving in the Korean Conflict, Dick raised dairy and beef cattle. He farmed land in Rockford, Winnebago and Stillman Valley from 1958 until 2010. He enjoyed this lifestyle and loved family togetherness. He was very good to the animals in his care and enjoyed working with his "helper" , Tex, an Australian Shepherd herd dog. Dick always loved to fish, especially with a group of friends who went to Canada every year. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rockford, the Winnebago County Farm Bureau, a member of the Wesley Willows Board of Trustees, and was past president of the Winnebago School Board. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Roberta; son, Paul (Linda) Jacobson; daughter, Ann Marie Jacobson; sister, Arlene Nelson; stepgrandson, Erik Martinez; step greatgrandchildren, Chance and Trey Martinez; nephews, Bob (Jackie) Gustafson, Jr,greatnephew Ryan Gustafson, Dr. Roland (Pat) Gustafson, greatniece, Beth, greatnephews, Ian and Kyle, and David Gustafson; cousins Chuck (Jane) Carter, CarolynPeterson, Ted Carlson, Bill (Carol) Anderson; Dean (Dorothy) Anderson and Charlene Barrett.Predeceased by his parents; brother, Lawrence; and greatnephew Kevin Gustafson A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Pastor Nord Swanstrom will lead a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Goldie Floberg, P.O.
