Richard F. Hershner

Richard F. Hershner, 81, died Thursday, August 4,2016 in his Rockford home. He was born December 27, 1934 at his grandparents’ home in Hannibal, WI, the son of Otis and Ariel (Williams) Hershner. He graduated from Merrill High School in Wisconsin in 1953. He attended the University of Wisconsin, where he became a forever Badger fan. After graduation in 1959, he began his career in Chicago. Dick was a 30 year employee of IBM culminating with 22 years as a marketing manager in Rockford before retiring. After retirement he studied tax law, earning the Enrolled Agent Designation. He married Helen (Johnson) Draheim in 1987. In addition to Helen, he is survived by his children, Bryce (Kristie) Hershner and Khrystin (Sean) Harshaw and their mother, Janis Kerby; grandchildren, Maegan and Ryan Hershner and Lily and Brennan Harshaw. Dick is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Family services will be held in Florida at a later date. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL assisted the family.
