Richard Johnson 1926 – 2016

Richard Johnson, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in his home. Richard was born December 7, 1926 in Duluth, MN, son of
Alfred & Jenny (Anderson) Johnson.
Married the former Bernyce Bergholm in Duluth, who preceded him. Later married Dorothy A. Knutson on September 24, 1988. Worked as an electrician at Rockford Products and Sundstrand Aviation for 26 years retiring in 1992. Richard bowled on the Industrial Night Owls League, camped with his family, and loved to listen to current events on the radio and television. He loved working with his hands and there wasn’t a bike, appliance, or gadget that he couldn’t fix. His most favorite things were to hang out with his three brothers, all were one year apart in age and his children and grandchildren.
Richard was a good man and instilled hardwork and honesty in his children.
Survivors include wife, Dorothy Johnson, Belvidere, IL; daughter, Jenny (Tom) Roland; Sons, David (Debbie) Johnson and Mark (Mary) Johnson; Step daugher, Diana Johnson; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation at 10 a.m. with funeral at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016. With the Rev. Dean Parker officiating. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108.
