Richard L. Waldsmith

Richard L. Waldsmith, 84, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020.

Richard was born in Rockford on April 9, 1936, son of Jerry and Dorothy (Klein) Waldsmith. He graduated from St. Thomas High School. Richard married Sally Jane Kampmeier at St. Patrick Catholic Church on June 23, 1956 where he was also a lifetime member. He and his wife owned and operated their family printing business, R & S Press for many years. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as the Rockford Moose Club. He enjoyed many years of bowling in leagues and was an avid fisherman. Richard was very involved with Milestone Inc. where his daughter Linda resides, spending time caring for her and watching her in the Special Olympics. He greatly cherished his time spent with family.

Surviving relatives include his children, Michael Waldsmith, Kathleen (Allan) Maggio and Linda Waldsmith; grandchildren, Aaron, Amber and William Waldsmith and Matthew Barton; sister, Dawn Linstead and brother, Allan Waldsmith. Richard is predeceased by his parents, wife Sally and brother, Carl Waldsmith.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Final resting place will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
