Robert Bob A. Waldsmith, 80, died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in his home. Born September 15, 1930 in Rockford the son of Cecil A. and Clara C. (Lundin) Waldsmith.nbsp; Graduate of West High School class of 1948 and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War in Germany.nbsp; Married his loving wife, Virginia A. Metzler on May 19, 1951 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rockford. Worked for AT amp; T, Ameritech and SBC as a cable lineman for 43 1/2 years. He retired in September of 1992 and had perfect attendance with those companies for 35 years.nbsp; Bob is a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and enjoyed yard work, gardening, golfing, bowling and puzzles. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly by all.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Virginia of Rockford; children, Mary Kay (Randal) Gibisch of Elmhurst, Sharon (Curt) Ennenga of Oregon and David R. Waldsmith of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren, Kaitlyn and Erika; sisters, Phyllis Hughes of Rockford, Dolores Field of W. Palm Beach, FL and Camilla (William) Roberts of Rockford and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Kris Waldsmith.

Funeral Mass Monday, May 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Visitation Monday in the parish hall from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayer at 9:45 a.m. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
