Rockford- Robert H. Lynch, 86 died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 2, 1923 in Rockford, the son of Harold and Opal (Quandt) Lynch. Graduate of Rockford High School class of 1940. Bob served in the US Navy from 1940-1946 on the U.S.S. Purvis and U.S.S. Badger. On July 17, 1944, he was united in marriage to Rose Margaret Dorsey in Rockford. Bob was a tool and die maker by trade. He and Rose owned and operated Lynch""s Bony Lake Resort in Barnes, WI until their retirement in 1987. They moved back to Rockford and became members of St. Bridget Catholic Church and Bob took time to enjoy his many home improvement projects. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Rose; sons, Stephen (Catherine) of Hayward,WI, Michael (Linda) of Rockford, Raymond of Waukegan, Patrick of Wesby, WI and Rob (Kelly) of Fargo, ND; daughter, Cheryl (Gary) Regan of Mendota Heights, MN; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Pinney and Joyce Kennedy and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and Roger. Funeral Mass Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. Bridget Catholic Church (600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park) at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a rosary service to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues on Friday at church from 9-9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
