Roger D. Duffey

Roger D. Duffey, 76, of Rockford, passed away Sunday November 11, 2012 in Provena St. Anne Center. He was born March 24, 1936 in Rockford, the son of Donald and Mable Duffey. After graduating from East High School, Roger then went to serve in the United States Marine Corp. He worked for many years at Greenlee Brothers as a Sales Service Manager, eventually retiring from there. He married Patricia Corley on Sept. 8, 1990, and together they became champions of improving the economic conditions of Shullsburg, WI, where they purchased properties and opened three retail businesses. Patricia passed away in 2009. Roger was a past member of South Park Covenant Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and sang in the choir. He was an avid outdoorsman, expert canoeist, and loved working in his yard and playing softball. Survivors include his two children, Michael (Laura Grossenbacher) of Loves Park, Kwynn (Vincent) Nicholas of Lady Lake, FL, grandchildren Alyson (Matthew) Chumbley of Silvis, IL, Ryan and Christian Treanor of Dunlap, IL and Emily Nicholas of Lady Lake, FL, Patricias children, Nick Holland and Wendy Verdouw and their children, several cousins and his dogs, Bitsy and Bruizer. Rogers children would like to extend special thanks and affection to all of his friends and neighbors who helped him during the last three years. He was predeceased by his parents. Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Thursday November 15, 2012 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 South Mulford Road. Funeral Service at 11am Friday November 16, 2012 in Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church 2715 S Mulford Rd, Rockford. Visitation also from10am until time of service Friday in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials to be established by the family.
